    Eating too much

I agree with what others have said. So long as he is satisfied, and not eating beyond what is comfortable then he is just at the top end of the eating range. Some kids have a fast metabolism, which is lucky for him really.

    Language classes

Many of the kids out here go to classes after school to learn English (amongst other things.) I am thinking of having my girls join a language class. Anyone else done that?

    Hell's Kitchen

At the end of the most recent series he was all smiles and probably more his real self. I don't think he's very old but his face really shows the effects of all that kitchen rage! I may have to start watching some older shows to get my fix, now this series is done.

    Christmas gift for wife

I'm going down the pamper day route. Instead of gift cards why not set it up yourself? Arrange for her best friend to go with her, maybe a car to drive them there, a nice lunch, even an overnight stay. That shows some effort - and guarantees the gift is really enjoyed.

    Freelancers

You could try agencies. It's the closest thing I can think of without knowing exactly what kind of work you're looking for. Or maybe local papers still run small ads?

    Hell's Kitchen

I really like watching this show, the food is amazing and the drama is hilarious. I only watch it on the net, with headphones to minimise the 'bleep effect' being shared with the family. I could never work in a kitchen, or appear on TV.

    Sidestepping questions

I didn't mean to give the impression that I'm a slack father, not by any means. Sometimes the things kids ask are just way beyond their understanding - so I find it easier to sidestep than to tell a white lie. I appreciate the comments though, and there are probably times when I can ask them for...

Activities On The Beach Besides Swimming

My girls love hunting for shells, though this can get a bit too competitive if the pickings are lean! I always loved the first time they got to hold one to their ear and hear the special noises inside.

    Sidestepping questions

When I was a kid it used to drive me crazy when my parents gave me the old 'it just is' or 'they just do' answers to my questions. Now I find myself saying the same things! Payback perhaps?

    Best custody arrangement

I have friends who live in different places now they're divorced. It's impractical to have the kids in both places during the year so it's a school-vacation split. Not ideal but they all seem happy.

Did you do all the things you had hoped to?

Lucky for me I'm not facing a winter in a climate where it's hard to get out and about. Where do you live and what were the major projects?

    Guardians

Seems like a really sensible idea, presuming that the older child is able and willing of course. I would also want to make sure the financial aspect was all taken care of.

    Public bathrooms!

Family restrooms - what a wonderful idea. As the father of girls I also have this issue, and tend to use department store toilets where possible, as I feel better about letting them go in alone. What age do you think they should be when we stop letting them come into the men's bathroom?

    Tofu recipes?

Thanks for the ideas. I am getting into soy sauce, which seems to be a mainstay of many tofu dishes. It's a bit salty though - which moves it into the treat category really.

    Graying hair

It could be stress related, because sudden shocks can change hair color. Otherwise it is probably genetics playing their part. How old were your parents when they went gray?
