Hiring a babysitter is just not enough. For giving your baby or toddler the best, you need to let the babysitter know a lot of information about the kid and your family. This will ensure that the baby is in safe hands and is always happy even when you’re not around. Safety first; babies and toddlers suffer from food allergies, and the modern homes with hi-tech equipments are unsafe for the immature cute little one at your home. So take a pen and paper and write down the below checklist for your babysitter. Print outs often come in handy. This way, both you and your babysitter will be glad and comfortable in handling the kids.
Stopping your child from talking back and arguing
Does your child talk back too much? Is he arguing for everything that you say? It’s a good sign as well as a bad sign then. The good sign is – you might be seeing a future lawyer or a person with amazing capabilities who can stamp any authority. The bad sign is – he’s growing stubborn and inevitably arrogant. So, how do you deal such a situation? The theory is merely listening to your child as to what he/she has to say and then make a parental decision. When a kid was asked if she argues with her parents, she said “I don’t like to argue with my parents, as they always listen to me.” This according to Mark Nichols is called responsive listening.
Helping kids cope with divorce
The separation of parents bears upon the child in every worst way possible. Anger, anxiety, frustration and unhappy feelings are very common during this stage. It’s the way kids express their feelings for their mom and dad. Bed wetting, thumb sucking, arguing without reasons, throwing temper tantrums, cursing, drug use, swearing, running away and other forms of regressed behavior might ruin the life of the child if proper care, love, affection and attention is not given by both the parents. The child might also start protecting one parent while hating the other. Dealing with divorce requires co-operation from both the parent who should maintain a good civil relationship to help the kid get over the divorce.
Getting ready for back-to-school
It is not surprising that kids might be unwilling to go to school after their summer holidays. This is because they don’t want to leave the fun they had back home, they are not able to adjust immediately for going back to school. It’s time for them to realize that summer is over and that they’re supposed to go to school. With the upcoming of new school year, parents will have to carry the tension of shopping for the necessities of their child, yes it’s really stressful. But the stress can be managed by preparing in advance for all the things that are about to happen.
