    Dinner time is family time

One of the rules my wife and our kids follow is that no one answers the phone when it's dinner time. That's because it's our time to get caught up on what others are doing. Caller ID makes it nice, too.

After your child is born, did your wife head back to work or did she decide to become a stay-at-home-mom? There are advantages to both.

How did you learn to be a dad? I majored in child psych in college but after I had kids, I realized everything I learned in college was useless. LOL

Share your reaction to the great news

I was really excited for all four of my kids but my best reaction was with number 3. When my wife told me I just started laughing with joy. The reason was because we thought we were done with two kids so number 3 was a complete surprise.

    Paying for college?

My wife and I have decided we're not saving money for our kids to go to college but we'll assist them with applying for grants and scholarships. We feel that our kids will take more ownership of their education this way.

    Older dads

My dad was around 42 when I was born and he died of cancer when I was 23. With health issues that creep up with age, is it fair to have kids when you're older if you run the risk of not being around?

Setting one day aside for just our family

We like to set aside one day of the week where we just do things as a family. Phone calls are ignored and cell phones are turned off. If we're at home and someone shows up at the door, we politely tell them to go away. :) What do you do?

    Media diminishes importance of men

Do you think the media diminishes the importance we men play in raising families and what we offer to society? I've just noticed over the past decade that movies don't often portray men and fathers in a positive light.

Discipline: you and your wife on the same page?

This is one of those things that will help with consistency around the home. If mom and dad aren't on the same page, the kids will soon figure out it's really easy to divide the parents and get what they way.

    Fatherhood what you expected?

Now that you are a dad, is it what you expected? Being a dad is one of the hardest things I've done but I love it and wouldn't change it for the world.

Where did you learn to cook?

I learned to cook from my dad, who was a professional chef. He didn't give me a choice when I was younger and now that I look back at that, he made the right decision.

    Smoking

My kids love it when I smoke ribs, brisket, sausage and pork butt. I have a couple of smokers but my favorite is the Weber.

    Disciplining in Public

What I do is remove my child from the store and then take care of things in the car. I'd never spank my kid in public because some nutcase would probably call the cops on me.

    Dealing with In-Laws

My father-in-law is an idiot and couldn't raise his kids properly to save his life. My mother-in-law is just plain nosy. They live 20 miles from us and I don't attend another family gatherings that involve them.
