    Pony horses

Maybe his friend at school got a pony? Or he saw something on TV? They're a lot of work and without experience as well as hard cash it could be a major disaster. Could he have riding lessons instead?

Friends with new partner of ex

Thanks guys. Some of my friends had the same reaction as you Howard. But what Geezer says makes sense - and life is so much more pleasant without tensions and dramas. Gotta think of the kid too at the end of the day.

Friends with new partner of ex

When I got asked out to dinner with my ex and her new (serious) boyfriend I was pretty sure it would be awkward! Turned out to be a nice evening - and me and the new guy had a few things in common from the past. I don't think we'll ever be best buddies but that's fine.

    Aging parents

My folks are still young really, but I have helped to care for my grandparents in the past. That was fairly short term, not sure I could take it on for a long time. Are you a lot younger than your siblings?

    Awkward questions

Good points, thanks for giving me your opinions. I dodged this the first time but if it comes up again I will definitely use the question to see what is on her mind.

    Bilingual Children

It stands to reason that he'll excel at the language he hears most. I am guessing he uses English at school - so there you go. Are there Korean speaking kids around he can spend time with?

    Diet and exercise before Thanksgiving

It sounds like a good plan to get a grip on any weight problems before winter adds an extra layer! I may encourage my dad to do this. Luckily I take after my mother's side of the family and can eat what I like without gaining.

    Awkward questions

How do you deal with it when your child asks things like 'will you ever have another baby?' I don't plan to, but I'm young and there's a chance I'll meet someone who wants to have a bigger family.

    Smoking and not working

That's a tough one, watching your sister slave for a guy who sounds like a deadbeat. But there may be more to it than you know, so be careful about wading in and making assumptions.

    Public bathrooms!

My daughter is nearly ten, so it's getting easier to let her use the ladies bathroom without hovering anxiously outside as I used to do. That got me some strange looks! I wish they had unisex rest rooms in some places, with just stalls. That would make life easier for people like me.

    Is running good for you?

Hey cheers for the information all. It sounds like I'd be better taking up something else, and cycling is something I haven't thought of before. Walking is easy around here too, lots of quiet paths to use.

    Broken toe!

Broken toes are the worst because it makes wearing shoes pretty near impossible. Hopefully you live in a warm place! I had mine strapped up a bit, which helped with the pain and moving around.

    Make Spaghetti Sauce

What kind of flavors is it they don't like? I haven't tried to make it from scratch, but my mother uses concentrated puree from a can as a base and it tastes real good.

    Is running good for you?

I was thinking of taking up running, but some people tell me it can be hard on your body. Now I'm not sure if I should bother, I don't want to wear things out earlier than I need to!

    I need sleep!

I think you are unlikely to have long term effects from a short period of sleep issues. I have friends with chronic insomnia who seem to function fairly well regardless. Not that this helps much when you have a new baby and everything turns upside down.

    Young dad

Thanks for the welcome. Most days I see the benefits of being in my position, and I know there are just as many challenges for those at the other end of the age group. I am also grateful that I got to finish school, even though it took me longer than I expected.

    Don't touch!

Doesn't it feel like you are constantly on edge that they are going to hurt themselves? I got pretty stressed out at this stage and found it easier to just not have much on display. That's not the best solution though.

    Young dad

My first child was born when I was a teenager, which makes me a little unusual amongst the people I know. I struggle sometimes to know how to be a father, but I guess everyone feels that way sometimes.

    Forgivable infidelity?

I don't think cheating can ever really be gotten over. I suspect people who claim it made their relationship stronger may have not been that great together before it happened. So for them it is a kind of bonus new start.

    What age cell?

Geezer, who knows what kind of technology will be around when your child gets to the age when they want a part of it! As things are I agree with Paranoid, you can get cheap phones which only call certain numbers.
