Never had to worry about it

Yea, it is confusing. My dad died when I was young and I ended up with a jerk of a step father and two half brothers who to this day I think are morons. I spent a lot of time in my teenage years saying "If Dad hadn't died this" and "If Dad hadn't died that."

    Meeting the father-in-law

Thanks, guys! I'll follow your advice and give him space and respect as the head of the family. Rey - That sucks that your father-in-law doesn't like you, but at least he's starting to come around. I know I'm probably not going to like the guy that takes my little girl away, lol.

    Traditional about boys and girls

My fiance grew up as an only child on a farm so she was quite the tomboy throughout childhood. She and I love to fish and she supports me taking our daughter when she's old enough. I would go ahead and have a talk with your father-in-law about it. He may be old fashioned, but he also may get a...

    Harry Potter on DVD 4/15

So, what did you think of it? We watched it yesterday for the first time and I thought it was pretty good. My fiance had to keep filling me in on what they were talking about though because she has read the books and I haven't. It seems like the HP movies are made with the assumption that...

    Meeting the father-in-law

My fiance and I have been together for three years, but I will be meeting my father-in-law for the first time next month when we travel to see him for our wedding. I have talked to him on the phone a lot and we seem to have a good relationship, but now that the time to actually meet him is...

    Framing pictures

My fiance told me yesterday she thinks I go overboard with the amount of pictures I frame and hang around the house. What can I say? I like to see the family displayed in every room. Does anybody else have tons of family pictures displayed?

    Giving up the man cave

Did anyone here have to give up "your" space to make room for a new addition? I have a friend who has a two bedroom house and his wife just found out she's pregnant. The second bedroom is his man cave and he's saying he doesn't want to give it up. Personally, I think that's pretty rotten.

    Budgeting with ever changing prices

I feel like my budget just isn't working anymore. It seems like every week the grocery bill creeps up a little higher and I have to keep adjusting to accommodate the rising prices. Is anyone else having trouble staying on track these days?

    Property taxes

I guess it just depends on where you live. I have a few acres in the country and my property taxes are about $1,200 a year. But I know someone in New Jersey who has 1/4 acre and pays $20,000 a year. That's just insane to me.

    Marinades

My fiance makes a killer marinade that is basically honey, lime juice, ginger, garlic, and olive oil. She usually puts that on fish, so for those of you that are looking for healthier eating this works great.

    Girls stuff

You're right that it's probably not the best way to handle it, but I think I'll be deferring those questions to my fiance. I'm not the greatest when it comes to explaining stuff like that so I'll probably even tell our son to go talk to his mother.

    Another Earthquake In Japan!

2012 is the first thing I thought of when the disaster in Japan happened. I wish those people would stop carrying on about 2012. If you listen to that stuff long enough you start to believe it.

    Laughter

That happens around here, but usually it's my fiance who starts it. I swear, she gets the giggles sometimes that remind me of being back in school. And it's contagious! I love it when we're all laughing hysterically and we have no idea why, lol.

    Adopting

Thanks for the great input, guys :) I'll have to let you know how this turns out once all is said and done. The biological dad actually had sole custody of the kid for several years (my fiance ran from him because he was abusive). But he came out of the woodwork last year and had Children and...

    Coaching

Lol, if anyone coached little league in my house it would be my fiance. I'm not very sports oriented either, Daddy. I think I would feel way too intimidated to be a coach, but that's just me. Maybe if you could start out as an assistant coach and learn the ropes first that would help.

    Mother Not Interested In Son

My fiance didn't see her son for several years either. His father was very abusive to her and she finally ended up running for her life. Anyway, during the time she was absent, her ex's mother (the grandmother) was in the picture and that helped a lot. The kid still has problems, but I think...

    Do you think I should?

I agree - go for it!! If you get it going maybe she'll at least be able to get out there and water the plants and feel semi normal. And she'll have the plants to look at too while she's outside. If there was no garden at all this year, it would probably be depressing for her.

    Stepchildren lies

Sounds like my step son and, yes, we have him in counseling. He's a devious little bugger and my fiance is on to him so she doesn't believe half of what he says. It can be a real trial, but I knew what I was getting into and the kid needs a dad. I'm hopeful we can him straightened out eventually.

    Worried about moving

I would check local crime statistics. Call the local police department if you have to. And you need to see for yourself at different times of day what the place is like. Visit during the day and after dark and see what kind of vibe you get from the people you encounter.

    Savers and spenders

I think my fiance and I are both on the same page for the most part. I tend to be a bit more of spender on unnecessary stuff, like snacks from convenience stores. It's ok though because we don't fight about it.
